Homecoming
Today is the day we'll welcome Michael back from deployment. The kids and I are so excited we can hardly stand it! My next update we'll be a family of four again, with pictures to prove it! What a great day!

Michael's new car
With the end of Michael's deployment nearing, it was time to get him a new car. We ordered his car at the end of March and I was able to pick it up yesterday. Here are the pictures:

I only stalled it twice on the way home and didn't get a speeding ticket! Now we're ready for Michael to come home so he can drive it!

The catch up
So, what's been happening? Or rather, what hasn't been happening?!?! I don't even know where to begin!
The kids and I have been busy adjusting to life without Daddy here. Things have been going rather smoothly, however, we've hit a couple bumps along the road lately. The kids are starting to miss Daddy like crazy and Austin has been choosing to show it by acting out. We had some heart to heart talks about it this weekend, and in all we had a great weekend.
Austin starts school next Monday so we're starting to get into our routine by practicing this week. Austin has to be to school by 7:30 so we're going to be practicing getting up early. Although, since they've been going to bed by 8:00/8:30, they're getting up around the normal time. Great for during the week, but not so great for over the weekends. He got up at 4:30 am yesterday and wouldn't go back to sleep! We chose to make the best of it and headed out to do some school shopping at Kohl's! I always find comfort in retail shopping when Michael's gone, so that helped me too! :)
Abigail is doing awesome. Of course I can never get the girl to shut up now that she's talking in full sentences. We've been slowly working on the potty training.

Some days she's all about wearing panties. Other days she doesn't want anything to do with them.

I roll with it when she wants and she does a great job!

Seriously? Who crosses their legs when waiting to potty?

I love these crazy kids!

I got Abigail to kiss me, but Austin wasn't having it!

The dog is getting huge. I had her spayed last month and she weighed 52 pounds. She is completely house trained with the occasional exception. I caught the brunt of the protection she's going to provide for the kids the other day. I had Abigail on the floor wrestling and tickling her and Lexi jumped on top of me and started nipping at me. I love that she's going to be that way!
How am I doing? Single parenting stinks! It's very hard, but in the end it will all be worth it. I'm really having to stick to my guns and it's hard! Work has been ridiculously busy, so that helps tremendously with making the time go by faster. My evenings are filled with making dinner, bathing children and getting them into bed. I have decided that there is one thing that will get me through this deployment: SLEEP! I've been trying to go to bed shortly after the kids do because it makes us all happier!
I have more pictures to share, but I better save them for the next couple of posts! The kids both have things coming up that are sure to be camera moments, so stay tuned for that. The first being the first day of Kindergarten for my oldest baby. I can not believe that he is going to be 6 years old in another 6 months, let alone going to Kindergarten. It absolutely blows my mind that he's that old already. Where in the world does the time go? I'm going to blink my eyes and he'll be graduating, yikes!

The 4th of July
This 4th of July held extra special meaning to our family this year. The kids and I were here celebrating our freedom while Michael is in Iraq serving our country.
The kids and I hung out at home all morning then headed to a friends house for a barbecue in the afternoon.

Little Miss wouldn't let me take her picture like her brother

But I was really proud of her hair-do and hair bow I made her! Her hair was sectioned off and accessorized with red, white & blue hair ties!

We attempted to get on post to see Dierks Bentley in concert, but decided to return home to watch the fireworks on post from our porch.

We stopped for snacks since we couldn't find a parking spot at the fest on post.

While waiting for the fireworks to start we had a mini photo session!

My Mom made these awesome cards for the kids and I

Inside was a special note along with some star confetti

So that's what we did

Great idea Mom, the kids loved it! (And I hope you don't mind that I shared!)
The pictures of the fireworks aren't great, but I just wanted to show you how close our house was to the show!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Daddy Dolls
~~ We interrupt the vacation posts for the introduction of Austin & Abigail's Daddy Dolls! ~~
Before Michael left for Iraq, I knew I wanted to get the kids Daddy Dolls. Had I better planned, they would have arrived before Michael left so he could give them each their "Daddy". But, vacation and preparation for deployment got in the way. I ordered the Daddy Dolls the day before Michael left and they arrived in the mail yesterday. I could have kissed the mail man when he delivered them to the house while I was home for lunch. I couldn't wait to get back home and see the kids faces when they pulled them out of the box.
They didn't disappoint me, THEY LOVED THEM!
Waiting for their surprise!

Austin took one look at his and exclaimed, "Daddy!"

Getting Daddy out of the plastic

Abigail ~ "That's my Daddy"

They wouldn't even look at me so I could take their picture. They couldn't keep their eyes off of Daddy

I told the kids that they could hug and kiss their Daddy Doll whenever they were missing Daddy.

Austin started right away, with a hug first.

And then a kiss

Abigail got her kisses in too

Austin wanted to wrestle with Daddy, just like they do when he's here!

Then Austin wanted me to take a picture of just Daddy.

Abigail again ~ "That's my Daddy"

And more kisses

Daddy even got to go for a ride in the police car

And shopping with Abigail

Of course they slept with Daddy last night when they went to bed. I have a feeling that Daddy is going to be going a lot of places with us over the next year!
